Is it Your first time in Madrid? Are You Lost? Here I will give You some tips on how to manage transport to Madrid Airport / City Centre! Should I take the bus or the metro is cheaper? The most important thing is the hour You will arrive at Madrid AirPort or the hour of Your flight that You will take. Depends on what time you are arriving or leaving Madrid but you have up to 4 ways to get to the city center or Madrid Barajas AirPort! Also, it is important which Terminal You are going! You have 4 choices! You can take a Metro, Bus, Train (RENFE), Taxi but follow our tips before You will choose it!

!! Remember that: !!RENFE/ Train can take You directly only to Terminal 4

but

METRO and BUS has connections with all terminals 1-2-3-4

DAYTIME arrivals

Are You coming between 6.00 a.m. – 24.00? You are really lucky because all the public transport works. You can take Metro, Bus, and Train (Renfe).

METRO:

The first metro at 6.00 a.m. and the last connection is guaranteed up until 1:30 a.m.

This line is a special Airport Metro Line, begins from station Nuevos Ministerios and finishes at Terminal 4. The line color is pink and the number is 8.

Single Underground Ticket + Supplement Airport  4,50 – 5 €

Permits entry and exit on journeys made between any Metro Zone A and ML1 station (Minimum price of €4.50 up to 5 stations; €0.10 per additional station, up to a maximum of €5 for journeys of more than 9 stations) and Airport T1-T2-T3 and Airport T4. This ticket is only valid on the day of purchase.

RENFE:
Renfe is the best way if You are coming or leaving Madrid between 6 a.m and 12 a.m.

Get into this train in the city center (Atocha Renfe Station) and directly go to Terminal 4.

Warning Renfe stops ONLY on Terminal 4!

From each train station to the Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas airport:

Príncipe Pío – Aeropuerto T4: 38 minutes.

Estación de Chamartín – Aeropuerto T4: 11 minutes.

Estación de Nuevos Ministerios – Aeropuerto T4: 18 minutes.

Estación de Atocha – Aeropuerto T4: 25 minutes.

Puerta del Sol – Aeropuerto T4: 22 minutes.

Méndez Álvaro: 29 minutes.

BUS

This time the only way to come to the city center it’s a bus or taxi. The cheapest one is a bus of course!

The direct connection between Atocha (Cibeles at night) and Barajas Airport 24 hours a day 365 days a year.

Buses every 15-20 minutes (daytime service) and every 35 minutes (night time service).

Journey times: Atocha-Terminal 1 (T1): 30 mins. | Atocha-Terminal 2 (T2): 35 mins. | Atocha-Terminal 4 (T4): 40 mins.

The most comfortable and most expensive way to get to/from the Airport is Taxi and it’s around 30euros. There are many taxis at the airport and in Madrid. Make sure You will ask for a price before getting into the taxi to avoid paying 50euros per this way…
